More Usable Hours Outdoors

Keep your outdoor space up to 20°F cooler and glowing on demand after sunset

  • Take your outdoor space back from the sun. Most patios and balconies are simply unusable on summer afternoons. With the PERGOLUX Awning, you stay protected from heat and UV rays – morning coffee outside, work calls from the patio, lunch without squinting.

  • Your evenings, your terms. When the sun goes down, LED strips built into the Awning's arms take over. Now, your outdoor space is ready for after hours – no extension cords, no string lights, no cable mess. The evening ends when you say it does.

Engineered to Block Sun, Heat, and Glare

Designed to protect people, interiors, and devices from harsh afternoon sun while keeping outdoor spaces usable longer.

  • UPF 50+ thermal protection for hot afternoons. Made from 8.3 oz/yd² PU-coated polyester that blocks 98% of UV rays, reducing temperatures underneath by up to 20°F – so your patio stays usable through peak sun. Lab-aged 1000 hours under Xenon-arc radiation, meaning the material won't fade, crack, or lose UV protection over time like untreated fabrics.

  • Blocks even low-lying sun thanks to the adjustable tilt angle. With the manual 5°–25° tilt adjustment, you can easily create the shade you need even when the sun is low.

  • Reduce Indoor Heat and Glare. When installed over sliding doors or large windows, awnings shade glass surfaces directly to keep interior rooms cooler and reduce glare – letting blinds stay open and easing the load on your AC during the hottest part of the day.

  • Work Outside Without Screen Glare or Sweat. The 8.3 oz/yd² high-density polyester minimizes direct glare on laptop and phone screens. UPF 50+ protection helps prevent devices from overheating in direct sun, letting you work outdoors without squinting or relocating.

Full Cassette Awning: Premium Look, Whisper-Quiet

A sealed aluminum casing, hidden hardware, quiet coated cables, and built-in dimmable LEDs create a cleaner look from day to night.

  • No Visible Screws, Bolts, or Anchors. The PERGOLUX cassette uses concealed hardware throughout, giving a cleaner aesthetic and fewer weak points where rust can take hold over time.

  • Whisper-Quiet Operation. A quiet motor glides the awning smoothly in and out. The 304 stainless steel arm cables are wrapped in a protective plastic coating, acting as a permanent silent buffer that eliminates grinding or squeaking – no re-greasing, ever.

  • Dimmable LED Strips Built Into Arms. Chip-on-board LEDs produce smoother, continuous bands of natural white light compared to the dotted look of cheap LED strips. Dimmable with included remote and powered through the awning without requiring professional wiring.

Built to Resist the Most Common Awning Failures

Designed around problems that can significantly shorten an awning's life, with components selected to avoid fading, mold, sagging and squeaking.

  • Tested for 20+ Years of Regular Use. Lab-tested for 3,000 open-close cycles, offering 20+ years of enjoyment at the average 150 uses per year, with integrated motor protection to prevent overheating and provide consistent smooth performance over time.

  • PU Coating Blocks Mold. Mold is the top reason awnings get replaced. Our PU-coated poly shades repel water while allowing fabric to breathe when rolled up, keeping moisture from trapping between layers and making debris easy to wipe off the surface.

  • Sealed Cassette Keeps Stored Fabric Dry. The 6063-T5 full-cassette housing seals rolled fabric, motor, and arms from weather exposure when retracted – letting you store your awning all winter or during rainy seasons. You can then return to use without dealing with mold, covers or cleaning.

  • Integrated Gutter Prevents Water Pooling. A calibrated 5° pitch uses gravity to direct rainwater to an integrated front gutter, releasing it through drainage points on both sides of the front profile, eliminating standing water that causes pooling, sagging, and mold.

  • Three Rust-Proof Materials, Zero Weak Joints. Most awnings fail from rust in the hidden joints. We use 6063-T5 aluminum for the structure, hot-dip galvanized Q235 steel for brackets and hinges, and 304 stainless steel for internal cables. Designed to prevent corrosion from salt air, heavy rain, or coastal humidity.

  • No Sagging or Brittle Fabrics. Our awning fabric is stress-tested for 1000+ hours under concentrated UV radiation that simulates years of harsh outdoor exposure, able to hold shape and tension even in climates with intense sun exposure.

  • No screeching - even after years. Our 304 stainless steel cables are encased in a permanent protective sleeve that eliminates metal contact, while hot-dipped galvanized hinges resist rust, meaning no screeching or grinding sounds when the awning opens or closes.

  • Fade Resistance, Even With Intense Sun. AuroWeave™ awning fabric has Level 4 Color Fastness (ISO 105) that won't fade like lesser fabrics. Full cassette storage shields fabric from UV when retracted, extending color life even further.

Effortless, By Design.

Open or close by remote, rinse clean, and skip the electrician with easy install and optional auto-retract.

  • Remote Controlled with Extended Range. A high-torque RF motor extends and retracts the awning at the touch of a button – no manual cranking, no effort. Operate it from inside your house or across the yard with an extended 65 ft range.

  • Stay Outside Through Light Rain. The tightly woven 8.3 oz/yd² polyester fabric with PU coating repels water efficiently enough to stay outside through a drizzle, and breathes to allow moisture evaporation when rolled up.

  • Rinse-Clean Fabric with Non-Stick Coating. The PU coating creates a smooth surface barrier that prevents dirt, pollen, and debris from soaking into the fabric fibers, easily rinsed away with a garden hose for low-maintenance cleaning.

  • Optional Wind Sensor with Auto-Retract. Discreet sensor detects vibrations from strong wind and automatically sends a retract command to the motor – no rushing home when the weather changes. No drilling, no wiring, just clip it on. Sold separately.

  • Two-Person DIY Install, No Electrician. Designed for 2 people to install in 1 hour with standard tools. Plugs into a regular outlet; no hardwiring or licensed electrician required. Chat, phone, and video call support 7 days per week.

  • Emergency crank included – never left without control. If the power goes out, your awning still opens or closes. Just attach the crank and operate it by hand – no motor needed, no risk.

So simple, even building blocks would be envious. Skip the installer with logical, completely stress-free DIY assembly. With two people, your new dream awning is ready for the sun after just one hour of setup.

Installation Questions
Can I install my PERGOLUX awning myself?

Yes. PERGOLUX motorised awnings are designed for straightforward DIY installation, making them suitable for most Australian homes.

With 2–3 people to help lift the awning into position, most homeowners can complete the installation by following our detailed installation guide, step-by-step video tutorials, and the PERGOLUX app.

If you'd rather leave it to the experts, we also offer access to professional installation through our trusted installation partners in selected areas across Australia.

How long does it take to install a retractable awning?

Most PERGOLUX awnings can be installed in around 1–2 hours, depending on the wall type and the size of the awning. The installation process includes:

- Measuring and marking the mounting position
- Installing the wall brackets
- Lifting and securing the awning cassette
- Connecting the power supply
- Testing the motor and remote control

With the right preparation and a couple of helpers, installation is quick and straightforward.

What tools do I need to install my awning?

You don't need specialist trade equipment to install a PERGOLUX awning.

For most installations, you'll need:

- 2 sturdy step ladders or A-frame ladders
- Power drill (hammer drill for concrete or solid brick)
- Masonry drill bits (14mm or 16mm, depending on your mounting surface)
- Socket wrench or ratchet set
- 6mm Allen (hex) key
- Spirit level
- Tape measure
- Pencil or marker
- Caulking gun (for chemical anchor resin and exterior silicone where required)
- Digital wall scanner (recommended to detect electrical cables and plumbing before drilling)

Always ensure you're using the correct fixings for your wall type.

How many people do I need for installation?

We recommend 2 to 3 adults.

Drilling and bracket setup can be handled by one person, but lifting the cassette – which weighs roughly 100 to 170 lbs depending on size – safely requires a team.

Do I need to buy any additional materials, or is everything in the box?

PERGOLUX provides the heavy-duty wall brackets (designed for M12 bolts), but because every house is built differently, the wall anchors must be purchased separately from your local construction materials store. Use the table below to know exactly what to buy based on your awning size and wall material. How many mounting brackets and anchors you need, depends on the width of your awning.

For awnings that are 16 ft wide or wider, the awning comes with 3 mounting brackets and you need 12 anchors.

For awnings that are less than 16 ft wide, the awning comes with 2 mounting brackets and you need 8 anchors.

What type of wall anchors do I need for my specific wall?

The anchor depends on your wall material. Here is a quick reference:

Poured concrete: M12 bolt anchor, 2-3/4" (70mm) embedment

Solid brick, double brick & natural stone: M12 × 140mm threaded rod set in injection resin, 3-1/2" (90mm) embedment

Perforated / hollow brick: M12 × 160mm threaded rod + 16×130mm injection sieve sleeve + resin

Sand-lime brick: M12 × 140mm threaded rod set in injection resin, 3-1/2" (90mm) embedment

Wood studs / timber frame: 8 × 100mm heavy-duty structural wood screw with washer, minimum 2" (50mm) embedment into the stud

Steel structure: M12 Grade 8 through-bolt with washers and locking nut

Concrete ceiling / overhang: M12 bolt anchor at 2-3/4" (70mm) embedment, or M12 rod + resin at 3-1/2" (90mm)

Aerated concrete (AAC / Ytong): Engineer's assessment strongly recommended

I have an exterior insulation and finish system (EIFS). Will the awning damage or crush my insulation?

Not at all. For insulated facades you use a specialized 1/2" thermal standoff anchor (typically about 4-3/8" of usable length outside the wall). These engineered anchors pass through the insulation and anchor deep into the solid masonry behind it. The awning rests entirely on the heavy-duty steel cone of the anchor, so your insulation takes zero structural load and won't be compressed or damaged.

I have hollow brick walls. Can I still mount my awning?

Yes. However, hollow brick walls require specialized anchors instead of standard masonry bolts. Review our assembly and mounting guide for the correct anchor specifications for your unique exterior wall type.

How do I avoid drilling into hidden cables or water pipes?

Three simple steps can save you a lot of hassle.

First, look for the obvious signs: electrical cables and plumbing pipes usually run straight up and down, or across from power outlets, light switches, taps and drains. Second, check your home's plans if you have them. Third, use a wall scanner (easy to buy or rent from most hardware stores) to check where you plan to drill. Spending five minutes checking now can save you from a costly mistake later.

At what height should I mount the awning, and will my patio doors still open?

We recommend mounting the brackets between about 8'6" and 10' from the ground. Keep in mind the "drop": for every 1 ft the awning projects outward, the front edge descends by roughly 3 inches. If you mount at 10 ft with a 10 ft projection, the front edge will sit at roughly 7'6" – well above head height and clear of outward-opening doors. Always leave at least 8 inches of vertical clearance above any door or window frame.

Can I mount the awning to a ceiling instead of a wall?

Yes. PERGOLUX awnings can be installed on either a wall or a ceiling, provided the mounting surface is structurally sound.

Concrete, solid brick and structural timber are all suitable when installed with the correct anchors.

Can I adjust the pitch angle after installation?

Yes. The pitch can be adjusted both during installation and afterwards. This lets you fine-tune the amount of shade, improve water runoff during light rain, or adapt the angle as the sun changes throughout the year.

Questions regarding electrical & power
Do I need an electrician to connect the awning?

No.

PERGOLUX awnings are a plug-and-play solution. Each awning includes a 24.9 ft power cable with a waterproof PERGOLUX connector that plugs directly into a standard outdoor wall socket. No hardwiring is required for a standard installation.

Is it safe to have the awning plugged in when it is raining?

Yes. PERGOLUX awnings are engineered for outdoor use and are weather protected. We recommend plugging the awning into a weatherproof outdoor power point, just as you would with any outdoor appliance.

What happens if there is a power failure?

No worries. Every PERGOLUX awning includes a manual crank, so you can still open or close it if there's a power outage.

Will the awning's power cable look messy?

Not if it's installed properly. The cable can be routed neatly along brickwork or hidden inside slim, paintable cable conduit, making it blend in with your home.

Questions regarding weather, usage & maintenance
Do I need to take the awning down or cover it for winter?

No. The full cassette design completely encloses the fabric and arms when retracted, protecting them from dirt, rain and the elements. Simply close it when you're finished, and it's ready whenever you need it again.

Is the awning safe to leave out when it is windy?

PERGOLUX awnings are certified to Wind Resistance Class 2, meaning they're structurally tested to remain stable in normal winds up to 24 mph. For stronger or unexpected gusts, the optional vibration sensor automatically tells the motor to retract – so you don't need to rush home if the weather changes while you're out.

Can I use the awning in light rain?

Yes. The 8.3 oz/yd² polyester fabric with PU coating efficiently repels water, meaning light rain will not disrupt your plans. For heavy or prolonged rainfall, we recommend retracting the awning to prevent water from pooling on the fabric.

Will the cassette rattle against my wall at night when it is windy?

No. When retracted, the fabric and arms are fully enclosed inside the aluminium cassette, helping keep everything secure and quiet.

Will the fabric go moldy over time?

PERGOLUX AuroWeave™ fabric is specifically engineered to resist mold. The PU-treated surface is water-repellent yet breathable, which prevents moisture from being trapped between layers when the fabric is rolled up. The non-stick surface finish stops pollen and organic matter from embedding in the fibers – the main food source for mold – so a simple rinse with a garden hose keeps the fabric clean. The full cassette enclosure adds a further layer of protection by shielding the rolled fabric from damp conditions all winter.

Will the fabric fade or lose its color over the years?

PERGOLUX AuroWeave™ polyester undergoes 1000 hours of laboratory Xenon-arc UV testing, equivalent to several years of harsh outdoor exposure. It achieves Level 4 color fastness – most awnings only reach Level 2 or 3. In practice this means consistent color across the entire surface with no uneven fading. The full cassette housing also shields the fabric from UV whenever the awning is retracted, dramatically extending its visual life compared to open-system awnings.

Questions regarding size, warranty & building permit
What size should I choose for my patio?

For a patio, bigger is generally better.

Remember that shade coverage changes throughout the day as the sun moves. If your main seating area is 10 ft deep, a 10 ft projection only covers it fully at high noon – the shade falls further back as the sun lowers in the afternoon.

We recommend choosing a projection that extends at least 1.5 to 3 ft beyond your main seating area to stay comfortably shaded all afternoon.

Which size should I choose for my balcony?

For balconies, choose a width that leaves 4–6 inches of breathing room on either side of the cassette. Make sure the projection (how far it extends) doesn't overhang the edge of the balcony, since that can catch upward wind drafts.

What warranty do I get?

PERGOLUX stands behind its engineering with component-specific warranties:

10-year warranty on the structural frame and wall brackets.

5-year warranty on the motor and mechanical components, including the folding arms.

5-year warranty on fabric, electronics, controls, lighting, and accessories.

What happens if the motor fails after some years?

PERGOLUX awnings are designed to be repairable, not replaced. While we engineer our products to last for decades, in the unlikely event that the premium tubular motor breaks, it can be replaced without touching the rest of the awning. And because every unit includes a manual override, you can still operate the awning fully even if the motor is being serviced.

Do I need a building permit to install an awning?

A standard awning installation on a private property typically won't require a building permit, so long as you're not planning on doing any custom electrical work.

However, requirements can vary depending on where you live, whether you're in an apartment or home, or if you need to get HOA approval before installing.
